Japanese Traditional Art/Crafts Integrates with Technology and Contemporary Expressions
日の出は、暗闇と光が出会う瞬間。
昨日の続きであり、今日の始まりの象徴。
それは瞬間でありながら、
すべてが途切れることなく続いているシークエンスでもあります。
ただ二つの色が隣り合うのではなく、
混ざり、滲み、融け合うグラデーションのように、つなぎ目はないのです。
暗闇を打ち破り、全てを照らすほどに力強く、
だがしかし決して押し付けがましくなく、静かに、
生命力を裏付けるまばゆい光。
日が昇るときの、静けさと力強さが織り成す荘厳さを、
それを反射する海の水面で表現しました。
日の出が、深いブルーと輝く橙が交わることで「始まる」という確かな予感を強く抱かせるように、
BREWのオープニングも、表現者と観客が紡ぎだす瞬間瞬間のグラデーションが、
来た人達の明日の行き先に新しい「始まり」を予感させられるものになればとの思いを込めて。
The sunrise is a moment when darkness and light meet.
It’s a sequel to yesterday and the symbol of the beginning of today.
It is a moment but, at the same time, a sequence that everything flows without any pause.
Like a gradation of two colors which mix, blur and fuse, not just sitting next to each other, there is no borderline between them.
The dazzling light that proves life force as powerfully and vibrantly as it breaks darkness and shines everything, however as silently and peacefully as it is never obtrusive.
By depicting the water surface of the sea that reflects the bright sunshine, the visual represents dignity and stateliness that silence and eloquence of the moment create when the sun rises.
I hope, as the sunrise gives you a solid sense of “it begins” when deep blue and bright orange cross, the opening of BREW will be a catalyst for a new beginning to those who come and witness gradations of each moment both performers and audience weave up together.

BREW is a series of events that showcases artists and Japanese traditional crafts/food/sake to let them collaborate with technology to elevate them to another way of creative expression.
I created its logo and main visual for Vol.1. The image derived from the bright sunshine of sun rise reflected on the sea as it was dawn of the series of BREW and I aimed to create powerful image of birth of the day.
